The Wolf River apple is a very large, early-season apple known for its size, with some weighing over a pound. It has pale yellow-green skin with a red blush and is best used for cooking and baking because it holds its shape well when heated, though it can be eaten fresh off the tree. The tree is very winter-hardy and moderately resistant to apple scab.
